After a climb over Lolo Pass, I entered the State of Montana, on Monday, June 16,2008. I also surpassed the 1000th mile pedaled on this section! I'm already 1/4 the way home! Only 3000 more miles to go!
A quarter of the way home! How impressive - 1100 miles done and covered. The pictures are great and we enjoyed catching up with the Wonhams through your pictures and blog. Your in God's country - wonderful picutres Wayne and I were behind, but caught up this AM. Our best to you! Have fun with Lise next week! The Eastham
Hi Gary Your pictures are beautiful. The trip really sounds neat. It is now official, June 14th, Ed and I are married. Bob R was the officiant. Our buddies from WMS were there. The sky was clear when we said our vows but opened up when everyone was eating and dancing. We had a tent. I hope that your trip continues to move smoothly. Ed and I head for Alaska on Friday for 10 days. Take care Rosemary
Congratulations on the 1000 mark! How's the rump holding up? Wishing you clear sailing on your next 1000 miles. And speaking of sailing, we'll drop ship some pontoons to help you get through the Mid-West.
Hey Coach! It sounds like the trip is great, thanks for keeping us updated! The views are beautiful and the people look so nice. I'm glad they are there to encourage you! Have fun & pedal fast! Caitlin
WOW, very impressive, from the pictures, from the hints of the lifelong stories you are collecting and just the personal triumph! Keep the pedals, keepin' on and may the winds and road continue to be kind to you!
Haylee says hi from the warm Fl Keys and also Erin says hi from London! Both wish you continued good luck!
Congratulations! 1000 miles. I'm impressed and glad you're safe and doing well. Great pictures. Keep safe and tell Lise that I said "Hi" and to please call me if she needs anything.
Hi Honey!! Can't wait to join you. I'm sure those roads will straighten out by the time I get there, right? I'm packing today, leaving tomorrow and will see you on Sunday in Yellowstone. Much love, Me
Hey Mr. Hinkman! Congratulations on your millenial mark! Enjoy your Yellowstone "reunion" and we'll be praying for dry tailwinds for the latter 3/4 of the trip. Great pics! CG

Welcome to my blog site.
Hopefully from this site, you can track my cross-country bicycle adventure this summer.
The journey will begin on the coast of Oregon, near Astoria, in the town of Warrenton, Oregon. The adventure will end on the Atlantic Coast, via Warrenton, Virginia.
The launch date is set for June 1, 2008. The total mileage is 4000+ miles and should take me about ten weeks. I plan to average 70 miles per day, perhaps more on the plains of Kansas and definitely fewer over 11,000 foot Hoosier Pass. I hope to pedal east on Route 211, into Warrenton, around August 9, 2008.

If you turn around and pedal back to Portland, Gary, I'll have sheets on the bed this time. Oops.
I found the pocket hammock. Let me know if you want me to send it to you somewhere down the line. Easily done.
